Wanaka: Within the scenic Southern Lakes of New Zealand, approximately 1 hour’s drive from Queenstown is neighbouring lake Wanaka with stunning mountain scenery and ski fields. Wanaka is 2.5 hours from Mt Cook and Tekapo and around a 6 hour drive to Christchurch and the remote West Coast of the South Island with glaciers, stunning rainforest views and scenic townships.

Glenorchy: Approximately 50 mins drive around Lake Wakatipu to this beautiful and remote township at the head of the lake, Glenorchy is the start/finish point of several of New Zealand’s Great Walks. However, there are a number of day walks and beautiful camp sites here too, definitely recommended!

Gibbston Vineyards: This area is home to some of the best pinot noir in the world. In addition, other grape varieties grown here include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Our summers are hot and dry, and the winters crisp and snowy, and these extreme seasonal variations lead to world class boutique vineyards, many of whom offer cellar door tastings. Just be sure to nominate your sober driver before setting out!

Milford Sound: An ideal day trip from Queenstown, leave early in the morning to avoid the coaches and plan to stop several times on the way to take in the incredible World Heritage scenery of the Fiordland National Park.

Ski-ing/Snowboarding: Queenstown has several excellent ski resorts within an hour’s drive. The season runs from June to early October and there is a slope to suit everybody.
